Though they get pretty busy on weekends, they have a lovely garden patio waiting area, perfect for wandering with little ones as you enjoy a coffee or a mimosa to pass the time as you wait. Kids and grown-ups alike will love their legendary cinnamon rolls, and everyone will appreciate the secluded serenity of their garden setting.

Bay Local

Bay Local is a coastal-inspired restaurant that serves a killer all-day brunch! Their classic breakfast items are reimagined by creatively adding locally sourced seafood for a fresh interpretation (but if you’re not a fish or shellfish person, there’s still plenty to enjoy!) Out back, Bay Local has a small lawn with some fun outdoor games, perfect for entertaining kids before or after a meal or if you need a little mid-brunch fresh air! 

Citrus Café

With two convenient Virginia Beach locations, Citrus Café is an excellent choice for a family-friendly brunch! Known for its exceptional customer service and fun twists on breakfast and cocktails, Citrus has been a favorite local brunch destination since 2006. In addition to kid-approved favorites like Chocolate Chip Pancake Tacos, they also have fun and creative seasonal and holiday menu items that little diners love. Citrus Cafe is a laid-back spot where everyone is welcome, and breakfast is always celebrated! 

Doc Taylor’s

Doc Taylor’s is the little brother of restaurant Tautog’s, a seafood joint just next door. Named for the local Virginia Beach doctor, Dr. Taylor, who used to live and practice out of the building years before, today, they serve up medicine in the form of delicious and affordable breakfast food a block away from the gorgeous oceanfront. It’s the perfect place for breakfast before a day at the beach with the family or a great lunchtime pit stop when you need a little respite from the sun. 

Simple Eats

The Vibe of Simple Eats is already in its name – simple! Transformed from a dimly lit bar into a bright, farmhouse-inspired brunch spot in 2015, this spot embraces simplicity, hard work, and patience. Their menu features local farm-to-table dishes that use fresh, locally grown ingredients to celebrate the area’s thriving farming community. It’s a quaint, lovely spot for breakfast or brunch, but they also offer take-out options if your family is in a picnicking mood or on the go!

Mary’s Kitchen Virginia Beach Brunch

If you’re looking for a Virginia Beach institution that is beloved by both locals and tourists alike, you’ll want to visit Mary’s Kitchen! They’ve been serving hearty, delicious breakfasts, brunches, and lunches for over 60 years, still upholding the traditions of quick service, reasonable prices, and country cooking. They even still make founder Mary Craft’s classic country biscuits using her traditional recipe! While their full menu is perfect for bigger appetites, their kid’s menu has plenty of options for growing foodies, too!

Commune 

Brunch doesn’t get much fresher than Commune, a delicious eatery in Virginia Beach’s Vibe District with an open concept and community seating to encourage gathering and getting to know one’s neighbors. Their menu consists of over 90% local and sustainable ingredients, making dishes as appealing to the eye as they are to the palate. There’s sure to be something for everyone’s taste buds at Commune, even pickier eaters, and you’ll feel good knowing you’re feeding your family sustainable, fresh, and local foods. Plus, you can enjoy their outdoor seating for a little extra sunshine and room to roam!

Becca Brunch in Virginia Beach

Located inside The Historic Cavalier Hotel, Becca is a modern and sophisticated restaurant that serves an elegant Sunday brunch. While certainly a more upscale option, their menu features locally sourced ingredients and absolutely delicious, lighter fare. Its more formal atmosphere makes it a little less kid-friendly than some other Virginia Beach brunch spots. However, their outdoor garden may be better for families with smaller children. Just remember, it’s on the pricier side and may not offer as much freedom for antsy little ones. 

Sunnyside Café

Sunnyside Café has a welcoming environment and a kid-friendly attitude that is perfect for entertaining the whole family! They have a huge menu of breakfast and lunch favorites to appeal to every diner, including a mini “Juniors & Seniors” menu made with little ones in mind. Located less than a block from the ocean, it’s a great stop to fill hungry bellies before a great day at the beach or simply sit out on their patio to take in some of the beautiful Virginia Beach weather!

Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar

Tupelo Honey is a Southern and Appalachian-inspired restaurant with rich, hearty food made from scratch and using responsibly sourced ingredients. They opened in 2000 as one of the first farm-to-table restaurants in Asheville, NC, and have been growing to serve other welcoming communities in the area, Virginia Beach included! Their restaurant has a cozy, rustic vibe that still feels polished and new without pretension. Plus, their covered patio is perfect for a little al fresco brunch with the whole family!
