As a full-service newborn photographer in Virginia Beach, I specialize creating in these relaxed, in-home newborn sessions. That means, on photo day, you don’t have to worry about packing your diaper bag to go to a studio – sounds, great right?! I will travel right to your home for your newborn session. I bring all that is needed for your photos including neutral wraps for the baby, headbands for baby girl, AND timeless, flattering dresses for Mom from my Client Wardrobe. The client wardrobe is just one perk that is included for all of my Signature Sessions, which is especially great for your newborn photos at home.
In Home Newborn Photos
There is not quite like having a brand new baby to snuggle…and my thought is, why even leave that newborn baby bubble, when I can come to you?! Many new parents have spent so much time preparing for their baby’s arrival; pouring love and care into decorating the nursery, ordering custom decor and praying over their baby’s first bedroom, that they want to have photos done right there in their home. I’m all for it!
While I am located in Virginia Beach, I also offer newborn photography & family photography in Chesapeake, Norfolk and Suffolk. I’m happy to travel to where my clients live within Hampton Roads.
Reasons to Consider Newborn Photos at Home
There are many PROS to why you should consider having your newborn photos captured at home:
- No leaving the house!
- Yep, no leaving the house, no packing the diaper bag, no need to change out of your pajamas on session day! Just come downstairs, and (if you book with me!) your hair and makeup artist will get you pampered up and looking refreshed for photos, while I unpack the client wardrobe dresses for you! No need to worry about what time to leave, packing the diaper bag, packing bottles or doing an extra pumping session – just stay relaxed at home, and I’ll come right to you.
- Pets can join.
- Not all dogs are good with traveling, and dogs are a part of the family! At home, pets can come and go, watching me take photos, and join us for photos at any time.
- Sibling cooperation.
- Need I say more?! Siblings can relax with Dad while I’m taking photos of Mom and baby, or baby solo. Then, when we’re ready for big sibling in photos, they hop on in! If they need a snack or bathroom break, they know exactly where to go. Toddlers especially feel safe and cozy at home. This, in turn, gives us a better chance of being able to capture baby and sibling connection.

- I know you poured over your Pinterest board with tons of inspiration to get baby’s first room *just* right, so in-home newborn photos are an amazing way to show that off! The house baby comes home to will ALWAYS be their FIRST HOME. Taking your newborn photos at home is perfect to ensure they will always have a way to see what life was like back when they were born, and how special their nursery was.
- Genuine connection and your personal style.
- Having photos taken in your home will allow your gorgeous home to be featured. While, no, it is not about having a Pinterest-perfect farmhouse kitchen, or the perfect Pottery Barn matching nursery decor, your home is YOURS. Your style and your personal touches are all over the house! While we will usually take photos in the nursery, we also may do photos in other rooms, too! The living room, master bedroom, in sunrooms or on porches. Again, this home that baby comes home to, will always be their first home. 🙂 Connection comes easily when people feel comfortable and safe. This is especially true for toddlers & younger big siblings. Because being at home will help them feel safe and cozy, even if it can be stressful to add a new baby to the family dynamic.
When Should You Book Newborn Photos?
Most of my clients will reserve their baby’s due date on my calendar in the 2nd trimester. There are a few reasons to book your newborn photographer early. One of those is to ensure that your dream photographer will be holding a date on their calendar for YOUR baby, so you won’t miss the best timeframe for their tiny newborn details in your photos.
